Frankfort
Captain Kris reports in the Frankfort area there are a few Steelhead runs around Homestead Dam, Platt Bay is a good bet for Brown Trout, on Betsie Bay along the Beach and Piers anglers are catching mostly Brown Trout and a few steelhead, mornings are best using spawn. At the mouth of the Betsie River numerous Steelhead have been spotted jumping, Crystal Lake is good for Perch on Minnows and pretty much everywhere suckers can be caught. If the weather hold and we see rain, he expects we may also see some early Morels. |

Muskegon Area
Bill reports in Muskegon Salmon are there and can be caught from shore on up to 41 feet of water; the best success is in 15-17 feet of water, fishing 10-15 feet deep in the deeper water fish 30 feet deep. Day-Glo colors are best the Greens, oranges and yellows, Bombers and small hot-n-tots are working well. Salmon are running 2-6 pounds and 12-18 pounds, the largest he has seen is 18 ½ pounds. Muskegon Lake is producing Bluegills in the shallows on wax worms and crawlers. A few Walleye are showing up in the evenings along the breakwalls and channels. |

On Crooked Lake, fishing success has been moderate according to Chris. The Crappie fishing has been good as they are starting to spawn. Anglers are also finding Bluegill and Pike in the shallows. Morel hunters are finding a few but you have to hunt hard.
