Frankfort
In the Frankfort area Captain Kris reports the Salmon fishing is still great. The fish are in deeper water 150 feet and you will want to fish 115-120 feet down. Blue with glow is the hot ticket and the fish have been big. Last weekend's tournament in Manistee winning catch of 12 fish weighed 200 pounds. Captain Kris reports the area in a state of "Salmon Mania", areas all along the coast are also reporting good catches. J-plugs are also reported to be starting to work. Catches for Coho and Steelhead are still on the slow side. On Lower Herring Bay Big Smallmouth Bass have been hammering small Rapalas in the evening. Several 3 pounders and some up to 6 pounds.

Alpena
In Alpena the fishing is still excellent on Long and Grand Lakes, Buck reports lots of mixed size Walleye, Perch is still strong. On Grand Lake the Bluegill are still good in deeper water and reports from anglers is that a state record Bass is in Long Lake . Salmon anglers remain sparse but Budd says you can limit out on Lake Trout and 10-14 pound King Salmon, if you boat out of Presque Isle you only need to go out 5-11 miles for a very peaceful day fishing.

Muskegon Area
In the Muskegon Area Bill reports the temperatures have been hot and Salmon anglers are catching fish. 90 to100 feet in the morning moving out to 100-140 feet during the day. Run your tackle deep 70 to 100 feet down. Sizes ranging from 10 to 20 pounds. Spoons in the silver and green colors are working best. A couple of names are the "Natural Born Killers" of NBK's for short, Also "Lemon Ice" and "Watermelon". Flies are also starting to work on "Dipsy-Divers," Colors working best are Blues and Greens, one type called the "Slaminator", anglers have been running the lures 200 to 250 feet back. |

Lexington Area
In the Port Sanilac and Lexington area Brian tells me the Perch fishing has been awesome especially North and South of the Harbor in Port Sanilac in 20-40 feet of water, many limits with most in the 8-12 inch range, "Shiners" are working best. Trout and Salmon success has been slow with a few King Salmon for the small number of anglers.

Trenton
Finishing the report off with the Detroit River the heat and high water temperatures have pushed some of the Walleye out to the Lakes, the ones that are hanging around have headed to the deeper channels, but Frank says you can still get limits. Large number of Catfish are also showing up. Perch remain decent with many large ones being landed.
