The conditions are very blustery but trails are very good and tight. He said the lakes are excellent and off trail riding is just as good as on the trails.

Frankfort
Captain Kris at Betsie Bay in Frankfort tells me Crystal Lake has finally froze over and anglers are catching a few Perch but no report on Lake Trout. Green Lake has been producing Smelt and Black Lake was very slow for Musky. Hunters are doing well on Coyote between Onaway and Rogers City . The Betsie River at the M-22 bridge has open water and anglers are casting but Kris thinks it is a bit early for Trout. Snowmobiles are finding very good conditions all over. |

The area has seen some very high winds on Thursday, but Budd tells me the Fishing has been great. Long Lake has been very good for Lots of Perch, Some Whitefish of all sizes and a few Walleye. Budd suggests an area known as Roundtop. Anglers are also reporting some broken lines and even though there are not a lot of anglers during the week the action has been very good. Grand Lake has been reported good for Perch and one area Budd suggests is Whiskey bay. There is 18-20 inches of Ice on both lakes. |

On lakes Cadillac and Mitchell the area has seen some very cold and brutal conditions. Debbie says it has separated the men from the boys. Anglers are not reporting big numbers of fish but are catching Pike, Crappie early in the morning and from 6-6:30 in the evening. Lots of Perch with some keepers, Very few Bluegill and no Walleye. Smelt are on Green and Higgins lake and Crystal Lake is also reporting some Smelt but be careful. In the river anglers are getting a few Steelhead and Snowmobilers are very happy with the trails.
