In the eastern end of the UP in Watersmeet area Carole reports anglers are doing well on Panfish, Crappie and Muskies. Earlier this week on angler caught a Black Bass which is a rare occurrence. Also many reservations have been canceled and Carole say rentals are available, call for information. |

Gladstone Area
In the Gladstone area Naomi tells me the fishing has been quiet but a few Perch are being landed. Salmon is decent and the "Moonshine" Lure has been popular. Drummond Island
On Drummond Island the Whitefish and Herring or Cisco depending on your preference are hitting well. Some running in the 16-22 inch range. Around Yacht Haven they are landing a few Perch and around Harbor Island Pike are biting. And some good news the Mayfly hatches appear to be over.

Frankfort
Over in the Frankfort area Captain Kris say in the area it is the best fishing he has seen. Many 20 plus pound Salmon are being caught and 18 pounders are very common. The largest he has seen so far is 26 pounds. Most of the action has been happening around the Manitou Islands so anglers are heading out at 4 in the morning to hit that sunrise bite, evenings at dusk have also been excellent. Not many Lake Trout have been seen. Steelhead are running 8-10 pounds and very few Coho have been seen. The reports from across the Lake in Wisconsin also have been excellent. On a local inland lake, Lake Bellaire a 54", 41 pound Pike was landed earlier this week.

In Alpena Buck reports the fishing continues to be very good on Long and Grand Lakes with lot of Walleye, Perch and Bass being caught, Also the Pike have turned on as well and have been hitting Rapalas. Salmon are very healthy and been good throughout the area averaging 12-15 pounds. This Saturday a Brown Trout Tournament starts.

Rick reports the Fishing Fair to good in the Oscoda area with Lake Trout and Some King Salmon on the big lake, Walleye and Catfish are decent from the pier heads. On Cook and Foot Pond the Bluegill are good and Mayflies are hatching.

Lexington Area
In the Lexington and Port Sanilac area the Perch are biting in good numbers, especially North of Port Sanilac in 40 foot of water and South of Lexington in 18-25 foot of water. Salmon are better out of Port Sanilac. Fish in 70 foot of water at sunrise and head out to 100 feet later in the day.
