Enter Your Photos in the Outdoor Photography Contest at Michigan Deer & Turkey Spectacular

You're invited to enter your favorite photos in the outdoor photography contest at the upcoming Michigan Deer & Turkey Spectacular, Feb. 10-11-12 at the Lansing Center in Lansing. More than 125 photos are expected to be entered. Entry deadline is 10 AM Sunday, Feb. 12. The contest is open to amateur photographers only.

Bring your entries to the show. No mail-in entries are accepted. Entries are to be made in the Event Office. Ask a ticket taker for directions.

Contest rules: Five categories -- 1) Fauna - (North American only); 2) Flora; 3) Scenic; 4) People in the Outdoors; 5) Miscellaneous/Novelty No 'hero' photos of game or fish taken; no pets. Black-and-white or color prints only. Image size can be anywhere from 5"x7" minimum to 11"x14" maximum. Photos must be mounted unframed. Matting is permitted. All photos in a category will be judged together. Entry fee is $5 for up to three photos. If you want to enter more photos, there is an additional $5 fee for each additional three photos. The photographer's name, address and telephone number, including area code, and choice of contest category must be on the back of each entry. There may be up to three award ribbons per category for 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd places. If there are no qualified entries in a category, no awards will be given in that category. Judging will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. Photos must remain on display until 3 p.m. Sunday. Photos not picked up at the Spectacular will not be returned.

Show hours are 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10; 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. Tickets are $9 one-day adult; $16 two-day adult; $7 for Hunter Education graduates ages 12-18 who completed a course before January 2005 and who show proof of course completion at the ticket window (otherwise, pay adult price); $3 youth ages 6-11, children five and under admitted free when accompanied by adult.

Admission is free for qualified first-year hunters. Any first-year hunter of any age who received a hunter education certificate between January 1, 2005 and February 9, 2006, will receive free admission to the 2006 Michigan Deer & Turkey Spectacular when showing proof of course completion at the designated ticket window. On Friday Family Night, all youth ages 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
