Looking for flytying information

March 25, 2006

Zachary, We really miss your show,It was a guaranteed Family Night, but we also understand that things change. I recently saw your web sight in Michigan Outdoors News.Great job so far. My main reason for writing though is that our 11 year old son is trying to learn how to tie flies. We have books, videos and supplies, but it would be nice to have some hands on lessons. We are 20 minutes north of Port Huron and was wondering if there is someway we could find someone in our area that would be willing to show him some techniques. He is a very mature person. We as a family spend most of our free time outdoors. We usually have half the neighbor kids with us and always have a great time. Maybe we should have a day dedicated to TAKE A CHILD OUTDOORS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you for your time and all you are doing for our Great State.

Dear Gary & Barb Albrecht:
Thanks for dropping us an email.  To answer your question on if we know of someone in your area to give lessons on fly tying.  Right off hand we don't have anyone, however I will do a little research and we will also post your request on the website.  I'm sure we can find someone to help you and your son out.  Who knows this may also make a good video feature.  We may want to do some taping on the subject after we locate an instructor.  I will do a little research and we will hopefully get back with you soon. On your other point, I agree we do need to establish a take a child outdoors day.  Lets work on it and see if we can make it happen.

Respectfully Outdoors,
Zachary Trost
