Pilgrim Village Fishing Report February 5, 2006

FISHING CONDITIONS ON LAKES CADILLAC AND MITCHELL

FROM PILGRIM VILLAGE FISHING SHOP

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2006

The lakes are white again with a cover of about 4 inches of wind blown snow. Cold temperatures coming this week. This will make more ice, over the 10 inches we now have. It's time for your gas auger.

Pike fishing is still steady with one fisherman saying that he had his best pike day ever catching a 25, 28 and 38 inch landed in a short morning.

Believe it or not, decent perch catches are being reported. The deeper water off the East end of Cadillac has been hot, the city boat launch and Kenwood Park area are also good.

Crappie fishing has slowed. It's been a short bite early and late. We mark them during the day but catch few.

Bluegills have been spotty for large fish. Lots of numbers of small ones.. Few big sunfish this week also.

A few walleye were reported this week. All came from Mitchell and were taken on tip-ups.

SMELT FISHERMEN--Green Lake has ice. The park by the Music Camp in Interlochen has safe ice. Use caution because it tapers off once you get past the permanents shacks. The smelt are running small along with the numbers.
